More About Healing

Healing presence is the condition of being consciously and compassionately in the present moment with another or with others, believing in and affirming their potential for wholeness, wherever they are in life. Healing Presence is an art form and makes a clear distinction between “healing” and “curing.” Healing is not “a remedy that eliminates a person’s disease or distress” but rather a natural force from within that gives purpose and meaning and wholeness to a life. It is not a process that can be done to another person but comes from that person uniquely. We have the chance to witness this process and occasionally mirror this process for the person. We can appreciate it, encourage it, and bless it, but as healers, we can do no more. The “Healing Presence” requires connection to our own hearts to be effective.

Healing arts involve the art of creating a harmony between the mind, the body and the spirit. Healing arts involve the interaction and manipulation of body systems using alternative, traditional and natural means or methods. Healing art, an ancient tradition, includes all of the health sciences and forms of complementary and alternative medicine, as well as creative practices aimed to cure disease, heal injury, promote well being, and coping and personal change. Long before there was medicine and medical professionals, man relied on art, music, dance, storytelling, and touch to heal; to help put the body into a state of relaxation and meditation that supports the body’s natural ability to heal. Art, spirituality and healing were intertwined, they were one. Healing Art is about quieting the left brain and allowing the right brain to take you on a journey inward to the very essence of your being and drawing out the emotions and memories found there. It is about getting in touch with your inner knowingness and communicating with the wisdom of your soul. That is healing art.
